Saying Goodbye To "Los Duracos"

Tuesday, May 5th was my last day at the Practice Center. It was a very emotional day for me and my students. In the days prior I have been preparing to say goodbye to my students and also preparing to what was ahead in my life. The students along with Prof. Troche gave me some wonderful gifts, we ate pizza, cake, sang the karaoke, took some pictures and said our goodbyes. I am grateful that I had the opportunity and thankful that I gave classes to such amazing kids. I will miss the school, Prof. Troche and specially the students who made this experience worthwhile.

We are famous Mr. Perez!!!

With that line my students received me the day after the Field Trip to Museo Casa Roig, Centro Arte Lito Pena and La Casona. They said that because the Field Trip that we had made El Oriental newspaper. Great Cultural activity where students had the chance to learn more about poetry and their culture.

Shakespeare Festival

The Juan Ponce de Leon school was invited to the annual Shakespeare Festival coordinated by the English Department of the UPRH. Other schools from Humacao, Yabucoa and Gurabo attended the event. The students were the stars of the event. They sang famous sonnets, recited famous shakespearian lines and even developed plays. Amazing experience.

Spelling Bee District Competition

On March 5, 2015 the Juan Ponce de Leon School hosted the Las Piedras School District Spelling Bee and Poetry Recital. It was a great experience where the talent of the students of Puerto Rico, specifically the Eastern Region was showcased.

Teamwork!

During the first week of both Ms. Thomas and Mr. Perez Practice we contacted Mr. De Jesus who is a fellow classmate from the UPRH to come to our classroom and provide to our students an extensive Creative Writing Workshop to prepare them for the upcoming unit 7.3 Poetry. Thank You Mr. De Jesus!

Our Classroom!

This is the classroom of Prof. Troche, our cooperating teacher in the Juan Ponce de Leon Middle School. During the 2nd semester of the year 2015 this will be the classroom that will shape me in my development as a teacher.
